Meet MAX, Kansas City’s first public rapid transit service. An extension of the city’s bus system, the Metro, and managed by the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority, Willoughby served as the branding partner on the engineering, architectural and urban planning design team. Our job was to position, name and design a brand identity system for the new service to get the community more excited about mass transit and to inspire new users. Our brand identity, bus graphics, shelter graphics, information design and marketing was integrated into a successful launch campaign that resulted in a 50% increase in riders over the first year.
