Congrats to our Friends at Park Place

As we wrap up December, we are always amazed by the incredible amount of work and the many inspiring, creative people we meet in the span of a single year. On that note, we have also been amazed this year as we've watched Park Place come to life.

In July of 2003, we started working with Melanie Mann and Jeff Alpert on the Park Place brand identity and imagining what Johnson County’s first true mixed use, urban inspired neighborhood might look and feel like. In March of this year the vision became a reality when we all gathered at Trezo Vino for our first Park Place toast, and last week, as part of our holiday celebration, the Willoughby team took our first spin on The Ice. Congratulations Melanie, Jeff and the whole Park Place team!

Back in October, we submitted an idea to the creative shoot out for the 2008 ADDY Awards. Our theme was well-received and the Advertising Club of Kansas City awarded Willoughby Design with the time-honored tradition of developing the call for entries, invitation and show program along with a Gold sponsorship for our efforts. The work is officially out in the world and there is already a buzz in the KC ad community about the event. The theme is inspired by the heyday of the Ad Men of Madison Avenue (circa 1960s) and the popularity of AMC’s hit show, Mad Men. We hope to see you all there drinking Manhattans and admiring each other’s vintage cocktail dresses and spiffy tuxedos.

While some of us have been busy designing the Addys materials, our fellow Willobee and KC’s AIGA Chapter President, Zack Shubkagel, has spent the past few months coordinating this year’s A5 Design Awards Gala and Exhibition: The Five Senses of Design. If you are a fellow creative, we hope you can join AIGA in the celebration and recognition of the very best of design in Kansas City.
